Fun. Nostalgic. 80's indulgent."Oh, this isn't over " I knew it was time to gird my loins. We drove back to his house. He wasted no time.
"C'mon."
We went into the garage and he started digging around. I wasn't sure what he was looking for, and after several minutes of watching him rummage, I lost interest and wandered back out onto the driveway. I had all but given up on the day's activity, when Jon emerged from the garage carrying three items. In his possession he had a broken aluminum chaise lounge lawn chair, a tennis racket, and an old wooden suitcase. He threw all three items in the back of the Bronco and uttered the same phrase for the second time.
"C'mon."
And for the second time that afternoon, we drove out to a country road. Jon put the truck into park and got out. By the time I got out and walked around to the rear, Jon was already examining his three items. He studied each of them closely, setting aside the tennis racket first, followed by the lawn chair. He held the old wooden suitcase, shook it a couple of times, and turned it over in his hands.
"This will work."
