Best book to learn how to handle Royal Icing.

This is the best book I've found to teach yourself how to use Royal Icing. The information is presented clearly with both written and illustrated instructions. I give this book to all my friends who want to learn to use Royal Icing. I have been using this book for over 10 years!

A great investment!

I bought this book in 1998 and started making cookies almost immmediately. I loved the recipes and the techniques I found there. I made cookies for friends and family and teachers and coworkers for almost every holiday and special occasion I could think of. It was fun and I loved it. So much so that I started my own business in 2000, a bakery specializing in hand-decorated shortbread cookies. Every year is better, and I am finally a happy camper at work. I am sooooo glad I picked up this book!

excellent resource!

Great decorating ideas and very tasty cookie recipes. I refer to this book often when I make cookie bouquets as gifts.

I love this book, I use it for inspiration for each season

The directions are clear and helpful I have easily learned the techniques. The recipes taste great and always work. The pictures are beautiful, I have successfully reproduced many of them and used the ideas to create other cookies.

This is a How-To Book

First, I've found some GREAT tasting recipes in here (and what does it matter if the cookie is pretty, but doesn't taste that good?). Secondly, although I agree w/ the other reviewer that there aren't a lot of pictures -- the point of the book, to my mind, was to get step-by-step directions in how to similarly decorate one's own cookies. To that end, I think the book succeeded.I also found helpful the resource listing in back, and the summary of ingredients and how the different types (e.g. unbleached vs bleached flour) affect the cookie. The author also provides troubleshooting tips.
