Mr. Murphy's book has positively impacted my life in so many ways! In addition to gaining new confidence in selling my service as an illustrator, Successful Selling For Introverts has given me renewed confidence and communication skills as a parent and also invigorated my social skills as welll! I highly, highly recommend it!!

For the non-natural salesmen

My previous experiences suggested that there are "natural" sales folks and then there are the rest of us. I was always impressed at how easy they made selling look. I don't like to sell and think of myself as a technical development manager and therefore not required to sell anything. After a couple of developments I realized that I am always selling something in one way or another and the sooner we all recognize that fact the better. With this in mind I gave this book a try. It provides a cook book approach to making the rest of us good and maybe great at selling. Just maybe the naturals aren't so natural after all. Th subject matter is complete, presented with lots of real life examples and seems to "sweep the corners" as the best salesman I ever knew use to say. You have to do a complete job to build business and maybe more importantly keep the business you already have and this book will, I am sure, help.

A roadmap to success, a must read.

Mr. Murphy has brought to the masses an excellent roadmap on how to succeed in Sales. Reading this book is like having a "conversation" with the author. It flows quickly and stays on target. It is full of practical advise, useful training aids and amusing anecdotes. This book is a truely valuable tool for ALL of us who have chosen the profession of selling. I have read many books on the subject of sales and self marketing and this offering ranks among the best. The careful reader will see a method of self accountability in the pages of this book, a good thing for those of us who are self employed. Many thanks to Mr. Murphy for his effort and I look forward to the sequel.

Finding your inner salesman

The vast majority of "how to sell" books and courses are created by out-going, energetic, "people persons" which teach methods that only work with personalities just like themselves. What about the rest of us? Many people in sales do not fit in this category and are often left to feel that they cannot succeed unless they take on some false personna. This books says no! If you are the type of person who finds him or herself drained of energy by being with people, rather than energized, or are just more quiet, reflective and thoughtful, then you will learn how to take advantage of your natural personality to succeed in sales, marketing and networking. It has helped me a lot. It validated some of the methods I had already used, that "sales" courses said wouldn't work. He shows how to warm up cold calls and, most importantly, have confidence that an introvert's way of selling is OK. The introvert still has to work, still has to deal with rejection, and all the rest, but Murphy will teach one ways to take advantage of one's naturally introverted personality and show how it has advangates the the extrovert can't touch. If I had to teach sales techniques, I would teach from this book, since a large number of any group will be introverts, who will not be able to hear, implement or be successful using extroverted sales technques.

Real-world book

Mr. Murphy, using an easy-to-read format, presents the reader with useful tips on selling. His pragmatic style is easy for anyone to pick-up and follow. The book is geared towards what Mr. Murphy calls the "introvert" seller. These are people who might not think of themselves as "salespeople" but act in a daily way to try and persuade peoples' thoughts and actions. The over-riding theme of the book is "know yourself." A successful salesperson must know his or her own strengths and weaknesses and not be deterred by rejection. As well, the book discusses at length the difference between sales farming and sales hunting. A sales hunter goes out into the world and attacks everything in site. A sales farmer is someone who finds fertile ground and grows sales over time. All in all I would highly recommend this book. By drawing on his real-world experiences, Mr. Murphy has written a book that anyone in marketing, advertising, or sales can find valuable.
