That man is successful who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much, who has gained the respect of the intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had. Robert Louis Stevenson
Who's success? This system of the judgment of success directed at an individual does not stop throughout a person's life. In early life and even into early adulthood and beyond, we spend so much time and effort fulfilling other people's view of our success, by their standards, that we may not even know what success means to us. Some of us seek our rewards in getting approval from others in ways that have nothing to do with our real perspective of success, in fact, sometimes to a destructive degree. Having a sense that others are glad to be around us is a good thing, but if this is sought as a measure of success, I suggest that life will be a roller coaster ride. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL OR IF YOU THINK YOU CAN'T, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
