Day by day the physical use of cash is declining. Huge payments are made through mobile wallets, digital wallets, and smart cards. This revolution is because of the fastest development of technology and hence a new branch of commerce that is E-commerce (electronic commerce or EC) emerged. It is defined as the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the Internet. Together with the development of e-commerce, payment transactions are also done by way of the internet. Especially in developed economies, there has been a gradual switchover from the use of paper-based payment mediums to those based on electronics. Electronic money (e-money) is one such new product that has appeared on the Indian horizon.
