Study of Students Social Personal Variables Achievement Motivation and Their Academic Achievement

Abstract A study of secondary levels students' socio-personal variable, achievement motivation and their scholastic achievement was conducted using survey method. 720 secondary school students' data were collected from urban area like Ahmadabad, Gandhinagar and Baroda city and rural area like around Nadiad, Ananad, Petalad, Kapadvanj and Malpur city. The samples were administered Achievement motivation inventory (AMI) by V.M. Joshi. The data were run through SPSS and Microsoft excels for t test and other relevant outputs. The study revealed that (1) Achievement motivation and scholastic achievement of the rural secondary school students have higher than urban secondary school students.(2)Achievement motivation of urban secondary school girl's student has higher than urban boy's student but both are equal in scholastic achievement.(3) Secondary school level boys and girls student of rural area have equal achievement motivation and scholastic achievement.(4) Urban secondary school level boys have higher scholastic achievement than rural boy's student but they both have equal achievement motivation. (5) Rural secondary school level girls' students have higher scholastic achievement than urban girls' students but both are not different on achievement motivation. (6) Urban Gujarati medium and English medium students have equal achievement motivation and scholastic achievement. (7) Rural Guajarati medium students have higher achievement motivation than rural English medium students but both have equal level of scholastic achievement. (8) Rural English medium student has higher scholastic achievement than urban English medium student however they both are equal on achievement motivation. (9) Rural Guajarati medium students have higher achievement motivation and scholastic achievement than urban Guajarati medium students.
