Welcome to sisterlessness. You may be there already. Or you may be there one day. Or you may never be there, either because you have no sisters or because you will pass before they do. And it really doesn't matter if the one(s) you've lost are sisters. The same thoughts and feelings will probably befall you whether you've lost a brother, a child, a close friend, your parents, or a family pet. This collection is about what it's like to go on without a loved one. The three movements here are not sequential, but are simultaneously unfolding from parallel perspectives.

Studies In Sisterlessness is a collection of earnest contemplations and laments on the loss of a sister (and three other family members within 5 years). The intensity of the poems builds steadily through Movements One and Two to a climax in Movement Three. It is as much about going on without her as it is about Carla herself.
