Daniel has a secret. He can detect mind reading, identifying Readers who wish to remain anonymous. Since Readers are women and can only read men's minds, they have good reason to stay hidden.

When Professor Denise Vogel discovers Daniel's secret, he seeks help from Jamie, his mind reading ex-girlfriend he can't forget and who has her own secret. Together, they struggle through their broken relationship as tension and fear build in the Reader community.

To complicate matters, Daniel learns he can read minds too-women's only-making him more valuable and vulnerable to those who seek to exploit his ability.
