Fascinating, entertaining, comprehensive

This is essentially an introductory linguistics textbook using the French language as its reference point. It is written in French, primarily for a French audience. However, for the intermediate to advanced student of French, it is a fascinating and extremely rich resource. Whereas most French textbooks will concentrate on grammar and comprehension, this book will take you through all the sounds of French (including in some of its regional variations), through the basics of words and meaning, through stylistic usages, through sentence structure (sentence diagramming trees in French!) and also has a dedicated section on Canadian French. This book will truly take your French to the next level. If you are a grammar buff, you will love this book!
