Strong Women Game Changers Batter Up! : A Minority Single Teen Mom Did and Got a Home Victory!

This book is about my life as a teen mom and a minority and fatherless daughter living on top of it in lower-income neighborhoods. I used life tools to get ahead after becoming a widow with two small children after their father past away. I was just 30 and he was 32 at his passing. My son was 11 and my daughter was 4 years old at the time. But I guess what I saw in my grandmother and mother who also were teen moms and fatherless daughters taught me that I could do this on my own but it would not be easy. They had also come from very low-income towns in Puerto Rico. The reason my mother moved to the United States with my three sisters and I was to give us a better chance of progress and a better life. The title is what I associated as a young girl that always watch people enjoying baseball games and I watch as the batters got all the intention and actually hardest job as the pitcher was hiding his pitch within his mitt! Just like life throws you curve balls that you do not see coming but when you do you batter up and hit your hardest to get that HOME RUN! For everyone in your team aka family & friends are watching you see what you do when you are on that base and by yourself awaiting that hardball that will come at you. Once you do get to hit it you better want a home run or at least a ball through the middle to get to run out your bases and maybe if you are a good enough runner you can slide home or at best third base in other words maybe become rich or at least well off in to say it not in baseball terms. I decided to write this book not only for my grandkids to have when I am gone but to help other women especially young Latinas that need the motivation to stay focused that they can be powerful empowered women even if life has thrown them down they can dust it off and keep trying and not give up! I feel that Teen Mom is a great show to show what to do and not do but also they are scripted a bit and get checks to do the shows and it helps them financially but in real time not every girl or teen gets that opportunity and also the show has parts that are edited in life there are no white out or chalk erasers thou you may get do-overs and sometimes not always. In some of these shows, some have dads that help out plus the producers & directors. In my story my dad was gone when I was 2 years old and no he did not pass away but separated from my mother. And thou I came from the projects and not such great neighborhoods that also taught me a skill to be tough but to keep and have a soft heart. For, in the end, we all need help to get along in life some way more than others. Unless you were born with a gold spoon or even a silver spoon in your mouth. I feel I was born with a wooden one even a plastic one used to eat at times! But learn not to complain about your life too much because like many countries you may only have rice and have to use your hands to eat it so be thankful I learned as I got older & wiser.
