The book is about stroke. I am not a medical expert on stroke but rather I have had one. The stroke has had a massive effect on my life. I have had to close my business down and although I am trying to improve my circumstances - I have a way to go. Stroke is a worldwide phenomenon. In New Zealand about 11000 people per year have a stroke and the cost to the Health System is estimated to be $1.1 billion a year. Strokes however can be easily avoided. All you need to do is check a person's blood pressure. If it is high, then you need to take action, or the person will have a stroke or even die. My book has got two focusses. The first is on checking your blood pressure on a regular basis so you don't have a stroke. The second focus is on how to use technology to try and reduce or minimize the effect of a stroke. There are no warning signs of a stroke. One minute you fell fine and the next minute you are having a stroke. There are however warning signs of the things that cause a stroke. You can avoid a stroke if you are well informed. By the time I found out what caused a stroke it was too late for me. I am trying to prevent other people suffering the same fate.
