From Neo-Nazi groups and their white supremacy activities, to Mossad operatives finding evidence of ex-Nazi's living in South American countries to former Soviet-bloc nations in turmoil and their... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book has "intriguing block buster movie" written all over it, but that is not what made it so appealing. Mr. Grover does his homework, his research, and that makes Strike Hard shine. Whether it was the awesome military capability so few common citizens know much about, or mortal wounds inflicted by snipers or combatants, I found every word believable. This is a book that both men and women will enjoy. Located in the rolling hills of Kentucky, much of the action and investigation takes place in and around Ft. Knox and Ft. Campbell. Our hero is Tony Wilson, a buck Sergeant and Advanced Individual Training Instructor at Ft. Knox. Tony is a man who lives with quiet thoughts and likes it that way. He shares a comfortable long-term friendship with Sgt. Karen Harris and is blithely unaware of her affection for him. Tony Wilson is not a die-hard warrior or a macho skirt chaser. His mind is focused on friendship, humor, living a calm and honorable life, and earning a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology. Enter Lt. Colonel Nathan Hooks. Nathan is near retirement and finds himself faced with the unexplainable theft of military weapons and the suspicious deaths of several military staff members. When Tony applies to do his practicum with the Military Police Investigation Office, Nathan takes the younger man on board. Smart, with a calmly focused, analytical mind, Tony helps uncover a reason for the stolen weapons and murdered soldiers. He soon finds himself up against an old line Nazi nemesis - Hans - who will stop at nothing to reach his goal. This includes assassinating Tony and any other person who tries to stop him. Hans and fellow Nazi Heinrich plot to breech Ft. Knox and rid themselves of Tony. In his own quiet, determined way, Tony battles the blizzard of the century, struggles to stay alive and to protect everyone and everything he loves and respects. I just have to say this. Fasten your seatbelts, readers. Strike Hard is an exciting ride that leaves you eager to read the author's follow up, Strike Swiftly. I hope the author doesn't make us wait too long.
Terrific storyline and outstanding characterization

With his debut novel, Columbus, Ohio resident Kevin Grover has created a story that is wrought with suspense and danger. However, during this, he has not forgotten that the main part of any story - aside from the plot itself - are the characters. Writing is a skill that many try to have, but few have accomplished. Mr. Grover accomplishes the handling of characters in a way that is unmatched. Tony, Nathan and Karen are well-written and the dialog is as real as can be written. Even the supporting characters of Karen's parents, the Doctor in the hospital, and a lot of the other assorted cast are portrayed as real people with feelings, emotions, and every other aspect of humanity. The story finds Tony being swept up by a plot to break into the gold vault at Fort Knox. while this idea is totally unplauseable, Mr. Grover presents it in such a way that actually makes you stop, if only for a brief moment, and ask yourself if it really could happen. As he presents so eloquently in the forward: When the government is involved, the truth will never be known. This book is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys Tom Clancy, Dean Koontz, Stephan Coonts, Clive Cussler, and any of the many other books which are full of intrigue and suspense. Mr. Grover does join the ranks of these great authors by writing his story in a "True Fiction" method, taking actual historical events and wrapping his story around and through it so the reader is at least partially unsure as to which part is fact and which is fiction. Our staff highly recommends this book, both for general reading and for the experience. Look to see more from this bright and energetic author in the future.
Haunting

In his book STRIKE HARD, Kevin Grover has penned a tale that is too frighteningly realistic in the face of todays terrorist activities. The author places you in the midst of a high powered theft by a group of today's scariest people. Mr Grover's debut novel will keep you turning the pages. His familiarity with and knowledge of his characters and the setting give the reader a sense of reading about an actual event instead of a piece of well written fiction. I eagerly await this author's next thriller. ....
A Masterpiece!

Strike hard begins with the unassuming story of a man who is about to leave the service, and a mystery to be solved. This seems at first to be a little "hum-drum", until things really get going. Once the momentum picks up, it doesn't stop until the book ends, and even then it leaves the reader feeling as though they are still being carried at supersonic speeds.Tony Wilson is the perfect protagonist. He merely wants to get ahead, and has managed to achieve this in a small way. He has no thoughts or desires of fame or fortune, although that is exactly what is in store for him. His feelings for Karen Wilson are his, and he guards them closely. This is much like each and every one of us, which makes the character so easy to believe. His interaction with Karen and Colonel Nathan Hooks is so realistic, it would seem as though this dialogue was nothing less than actual conversation transcripts. As Antagonists, Hans and Heinrich are perfect. There are stories and rumors of ex-Nazi's living in South America, so why not use them as a backdrop? I think that in doing so, Mr. Grover has brough an issue to the forefront that should never be ignored. The plot of the story is literally unbelieveable. However, many timed through history we see evidence of the impossible happening - we only need to look toward New York to see that fact. So, I had no problem with the storyline, or the plot. It was as realistic as today's headlines.Overall, I feel that this book has really achieved what a book of this type is designed to do. It is entertaining, fast-paced, informative, and action-packed. The suspense is wonderful, and the way that Mr. Grover twists the storyline just enough to make it interesting without losing his sense of direction, shows that he knows how to take a story and wrap it around the reader in a positive way.I highly recommend this novel to anyone who likes being gripped in a novel that they don't want to put down. I hope to see more (and the story does indicate so) from this author in the future.
Kevin Grover "Strikes Hard" with his debut novel!

This gripping work of fiction by Kevin will keep you on the edge of your seat. Page by page he illustrates what "could" be taking place in our government. Strike Hard brings to light that anything is possible! Full of action for the "military minded" and has romance interwoven between the pages for the "romantically inclined" reader. I highly recommend this book!
