Harold Crick (Will Ferrell) goes about his regimented, mundane life as an IRS agent. Until one day, he hears a voice in his head narrating his life. He confronts a psychiatrist (Linda Hunt) who informs him that it is schizophrenia. He says no, it is just a voice in his head, and the psychiatrist says that it is schizophrenia. Turns out he may be a character in a book, and his days are numbered. Can he figure this out in time to save his bacon? He enlists the help of a literary professor (Dustin Hoffman) to help in the quest. On the way, he may even have time enough for love (Maggie Gyllenhaal)

However, it is how the story is executed and the skill of the actors to involve us that makes this presentation excel.
