Book Overview

Here are wonders of the animal kingdom, bizarre social practices of the past and present, remarkable and compelling human achievements, and breath-taking tales of nature at its most unpredictable. The photographs do not lie, and this book proves the adage: Seeing is believing. The true details of the famous stories are here: What's really going on at Loch Ness; what does Roswell, New Mexico, tell us; and, what about that cloud that looked like Jesus during the Korean War? The surprising, little-known tales are here as well: the window washer who fell 47 floors and walked away; and, the Christmas burglar who got stuck in a chimney .As P.T.Barnum might say: Strange but True is a colossal compendium of crazy coincidences, peculiar people and astounding animals. Step right up!

Great for my students

Great book and my students love it!!! The cover was a bit bent, however. Otherwise in good condition.

Coffee Table Book

Life magazine issues forth this book purporting to contain 100 oddities, myths, and legends in our world to draw a passing interest from the general public. Inside are some oddball animals both real and cryptozoological, lost civilizations, legendary personalities, UFOs & crop circles, and strange buildings & places from around the world. Plentiful astounding photographs lift up the value of this book; however, the glazed over info-blurbs for the presented 'strange but true' provides little to no information on the majority of the topics. The dual pages contain 2-4 'strange but true' samples. Simply put, there's the minimal amount of info to draw your attention but nothing is expanded upon and the descriptives really fall flat. The pictures give the book 5 stars, the info only gets 3 stars or less. Will make a good curious coffee table book for entertaining company.
