A timeless, delicate tale; essential and concise, but also introspective
and poignant; written in a simple sliding style,
never trivial, able to reach children and adults' hearts and
minds alike.
It is a simple yet unique story, rich in meaning with the
right balance between historical, fictional, human as well as
animal characters, whose voices are easily identifiable and
imaginable by the reader.
The way a cat is able to, every day, take care of us humans,
fragile beings, is profoundly touching.
In addition, seeing this narrative through the cat's eyes is an
original, funny and moving way to recount a moment in
life, and makes this fairy tale a terrifically BIG story; while
also making Cremona and its inimitable violins known.
This children's book can also be enjoyed by adults who never
tire of reading a beautiful fairy tale. Often it is through this
types of books that it is possible to find those hidden treasures
locked up safe in our hearts and from which we can learn and
improve ourselves. I believe in reading as a means to grow,
and this is a book that children should read as soon as possible:
it invites them to understand the important and gentle
underlying messages of friendship, empathy and solidarity,
hidden between the pages, as in many fairy tales.
It might seem foolish, I admit, but to have been moved by
this simple and pure book is one of the finest emotion I have
ever felt.
