Stormy: The Revealing

Rightly so that this town is called Stormy. It has weathered its share of storms, not just the meteorological ones either. There was something about this town that bade warning to those moving in but disguised itself as a gentle spring rain. Stormy displayed its welcoming pineapples and crickets, it's warm and friendly greetings. Stormy's beautiful downtown that was graced by overflowing ferns, potted planters of beautiful summer flowers, American flags hung from poles and darling string lights hung around greeted the day tripper with a welcomed hug and a genuine smile. What wasn't felt was the constant twisting and turning undertow that only dragged you under once you were established there, grounded, roots intertwined. Stormy harbored its fair share of deceit, deception and corruption that freely flowed through its veins. Even the celebrated title of Litigation Center of Alabama bears such an ominous pride that would have never been tolerated in the past, or at least I didn't think so. But my return to Stormy helped me realize and remember that there are good people that shine through like the sun breaking through the clouds after a thunderstorm.
