Peter Rivers was born in rural northern New York. He believes each of us has a greater version within us that we need to let emerge. A traumatic childhood in a broken, chaotic home led him to harbor deep rooted resentments, intense emotions and crippling fears. He built walls to keep people out and demons in, sadly becoming a prisoner of the flesh. Poetry found him, when someone special told him that his words transported them to amazing places. This beautiful spark began to echo-build into his journey toward self-acceptance through creative writing. I write poetry to create bridges; from places I've seen, to places I can go, from things I've felt, to things I can dream, from who I was, to whom I can become. Often, I have asked myself why the sum of my parts just never seems enough. Storming Oblivion explores these difficult to share places in the soul. Tough times can cause us to doubt ourselves as we become crippled by fear of judgement. This can become so bad it even becomes a fear of self-judgement, so we hide ourselves within ourselves. Traumatic secrets poison the mind. For me, poetry is a beautiful tool of expression, a conduit to take us from the unseen to the edges of our perception. My insatiable thirst for learning about the poetic craft has led me to develop a potent toolkit of rhythm and rhyme mixed with high impact alliteration and imagery. This collection represents a journey through my own expression, recognizing the potential value within my own voice. Storming Oblivion will present tales of love, loss, fear, doubt, feelings that lack reciprocity and more. Travel with me on my road to self-discovery as I share the deepest parts of my soul with you in my quest for self-acceptance. - Peter RiversWhat they said: Peter squeezes every nuance out of reality until nothing is left but the truth... he is a true poets' poet. - Matt Elmore, author of Constellation Road and Average Angel Peter Rivers writes with a pen of candour and wit.
