Their trip ends with locating a man who used to be the head manager of a cheese factory that is no longer in operation, and it leads to finding the equipment necessary to produce the cheese and butter. After dealing with Nolan, Charles discovers that Nolan's father, a retired British General, has plans to send assassins to America to kill Charles's wife and children, forcing Charles to take drastic steps to protect his family. Gray Horse's children, Kimimela (Butterfly), Wichahpi (Star), and Tatanka Ptecila (Little Bull), beging ot slowly adapt to the white man's world and are enjoying school. Trouble erupts at school when a bully decides to beat up Little Bull, and Angus, Charles Crawford's son, comes to his rescue. Ending with an angry father threatening Charles, Judith, and the family.
