On June 13th, 1867 a tornado on the prairie struck Paunch Satler's twenty-seven wagon train dead center. Of the one hundred sixty-seven souls on it, almost every family was hit with injury or loss of loved ones. How will they go on in the face of such pain? This is the record of their suffering, striving, working and growing together as one. It continues by revealing the stresses between two peoples (whites and Indians), brought together by pain and the tenuous relationship of trust that binds them.
