This is a story about a man called William Morgan. He is an ordinary man who leads an ordinary life in a small, out of the way, ordinary kind of place. He loves fishing and his local pub in equal measure and is perfectly content with his lot.
Then one extraordinary day he meets two people who turn his life upside down. One is a master criminal who is trying to be invisible, while the other one, according to all official records, was killed in action in Belgium in 1917 and actually is invisible.
From then on, his life becomes an out-of-control odyssey, and like any good odyssey, the journey is both entertaining and horrifying. Along the way he learns many things, but two priceless skills stand out. One is how to make so much money that he doesn't need to work again, and the other is how to enjoy a good whisky even if you have been dead for a very long time.
