This is the Second Edition (2019) of Stories from History's Dust Bin, the winner of the Arizona Book of the Year Award for 2016. What is new in this edition, besides a review of all stories for new and/or updated information, is the addition of footnotes, end-of-story comments, a cross-referencing with other Dust Bin books and, in response to readers, a change in the organization of the stories from chronological to alphabetical.

Inside are 122 non-fiction stories, each readable in fifteen minutes or less. The books make great companions for business or vacation travel, are excellent for reading poolside or next to the fireplace, as substitutes for in-flight or waiting room magazines and perfect for end-of-day relaxation.

The contents feature the little known and unusual, such as the story of Laura Keene (front cover), the actress in the play that President Lincoln was enjoying when he was assassinated. Keene made her way to the Presidential Box, where she was recognized by her theatrical costume. There, she cradled the president's head against her shoulder until he was taken from the theater, thus assuring herself at least an asterisk when historians put pen to paper in recording the historical event.

And the Story of composer Franz Haydn, whose head was stolen just as his body was about to be lowered into its grave in 1809. It took 145 years, lots of research, and a determined family to bring about the reunion, but it happened in 1954 when Haydn's tomb in Eisenstadt, Austria was opened, and his body and head were again reunited.
