For Father's Day of 2019 Bob Pauker's two sons made a unique request. In their Father's Day card they wrote, "We want you to write down your stories so we can share them with our children and our grandchildren." His sons added that they were not particular which stories; they just wanted him to share situations from his life that are meaningful.So for nearly half a year, Bob wrote down a variety of true stories.Each story had a significant impact on his life. Some of the stories are about amusing events such as when Bob's mother washed out his mouth with a bar of soap. Other stories are about life-changing situations, such as witnessing a fight between a bully and an overmatched classsmate. A few stories are about Bob's mother and father, such as the one about the prostitute who lived above his father's drugstore. Some stories are about Bob's two sons and others are about people his sons never met, such as the guide in Cambodia whose own father was killed by the Khmer Rouge.Bob sums the experience of creating Stories from Dad this way."My hope is that my sons and anyone else who reads this book will enjoy the stories I have selected to tell. Each of these stories is true. Of course, I have shared stories so that they can be passed on to my sons' children and grandchildren."
