Stories For My Grandchildren

These short stories represent part of a collection written for my grandchildren while the world dealt with Covid. The idea of keeping families separated during that time was heartbreaking on multiple levels. With the schools shut down, I was worried about their reading skills and development, and was determined to find a way of communicating with the youngest members of our family that was both memorable and fun. My goal was for the stories to capture their imagination and entice them to read more. We always told our children when they were young, "If you can read, you can do anything." These stories are meant to be read by parents together with children who are already reading. There are some challenging words mixed in, designed to stimulate discussion, while building vocabulary. I must say the "experiment" was successful. Some of these characters took on a life of their own outside of the stories. I've received several hand drawn cards with pictures taken directly from some of these stories, which is so heartwarming. Hopefully you will experience as much joy reading these as I've had writing them.
