STOP MOTION A PLAY By Kit HonkanenRequires at least 6 actors, gender really doesn't matter.NOTE: The concept is based on memories and how we as humans often recall memories in small fragments and these small fragments make up the play. A stop motion animation is the same way; the whole thing is made up of pictures or moments. The whole story is there, just some parts are more noticeable. This idea of life should be kept throughout the whole play. Each moment/ scene is like a single picture in a stop motion picture. When I first wrote this play I had kept my past directing experiences in mind, and gave the director a lot of freedom to play, due to the open ended essence of many of the scenes. However with the response from different people reading it and the first play reading there were a lot of people asking for more specifics, which I then added. I have however kept the previous version in a file, so if someone would want to have greater flexibility they could do so. The seriousness should be determined by the director. (P.S. A good warning: it is heavy in props and puppetry; however, nothing should be too hard to find.)I wrote this between 2012 and 2016. This is the edited version for 2020.
