Book Overview

I want to be direct, my name is Greg. I go by "Onision" online. This book is made up of events that occurred in my own life mixed with fiction from the made up life of James. James is essentially a better version of myself. His home, his school & his life all resemble my own at his age. The people James analyzes and is surrounded by are not so unlike those I've known as well. I have experienced much of the loss James has however his happier moments...

Literally one of the worst things ever

I'm not sure what makes him think he can write like this and not get an editor. This self-published, Gary Stu, author insert garbage hurts to even think about. His characters are insanely one-note. He has no idea what conflict IS. And to make it "interesting" he throws in the lowest denominator stuff out of nowhere. And there's smut for no reason??? These are high schoolers written by a 30-year-old just graphically doing it all over the place. The worst.

This book sucks, here’s why

I would like to start by saying that I am most familiar with this YouTuber through his online presence and career. From what I can tell, he isn’t well liked, but there was enough of a fuss over a recent review of this book done by another YouTuber (Strange Æons) that I decided to check it out. To start off with, there are several grammar mistakes, they happen quite often, but it wasn’t troublesome enough to really complain about, afterall, this is (from what I can tell) a completely self-published and edited book. The characters were one dimensional- I am aware that they were based off of the authors real-life friends, and when I say that the characters were one dimensional, I’m not saying that the people they were based off of actually are, what I am saying is that Onision did a poor job at accurately depicting real-life people, and giving them real aspirations and personality traits. There’s a massive school shooting that takes place in this book, so if that is a sensitive topic to you, I certainly do not recommend picking this book up. I won’t go into much detail, but the main character is able to stop the shooting (what seems to be) single-handely. To summarize, the characters are poorly written, there are many grammatical errors, and the events that take place are both poorly written and extremely unrealistic (even for loose fiction.)
