Stolen Innocents: A Yorkshire tragedy

Jack the Ripper's shadow still looms large when the mutilated body of seven-year-old Johnny Gill is found in a stable yard on Innocents' Day. The horror grips the industrial heart of Yorkshire, and the town's peace is shattered.

Local dairyman and Sunday school teacher William Barrett a man of faith and humble origin is arrested for the crime. The evidence is circumstantial, the witnesses uncertain, yet the authorities, under immense pressure, are desperate for a conviction.

Chief Constable James Withers, a Freemason with powerful connections, leads the inquiry, aided by the famed chemist Felix Rimmington and police surgeon Dr. Samuel Lodge. When the Metropolitan Police send Dr. George Bagster Phillips, the pathologist from the London Ripper cases, speculation grows that the same monstrous hand has struck again.

But beneath the smog of Bradford lies something darker, rumours of occult societies, secret rituals, and hidden allegiances that reach far beyond the city's narrow streets. As Barrett languishes in Armley Gaol awaiting trial, his solicitor John Craven works tirelessly to expose corruption and deceit within the very institutions meant to deliver justice.

When the verdict finally comes, the nation breathes a sigh of relief, but two years later, a chillingly similar murder in Leeds forces everyone to question what they thought they knew.
