Tully and her twelve-year-old son, Harry, move into a rented apartment following Tully's marriage break down. There, she becomes entangled in an incomprehensibly disturbing situation which she keeps hidden from everyone, especially Harry. She pleads for help, but is unable to obtain any positive action, even after bringing the police evidence of home invasion and stalking. Her identity as Tully slips into the Woman, powerless, emotionally isolated, even when part of a loving family. But even though she becomes silent about her escalating trauma, she still functions successfully as a loving mother and teacher, working in everyday society. Many become aware of her situation but nobody will intervene. Except for Hugo.
