Cameron's tale of correcting past mistakes

The curse of the child star and the teen heart throb, to be corrupted by Hollywood at such a young age. "Still Growing" is Kirk Cameron, former star of the hit sitcom 'Growing Pains', story of his life. He discusses his time on a show becoming someone he now despises and hates, someone who would do something as cold as firing his mother. When the stardom started to fade, only then did he learn what he did. "Still Growing" is Cameron's tale of correcting past mistakes and becoming a better person through finding God, sure to inspire readers everywhere.

One Of The Few Funny & Honest Celebrity Autobiographies!!!

I wasn't a huge Kirk Cameron fan but I did occassionally watch "Growing Pains" and was shocked when Kirk decided to take a hiatus from showbusiness at the height of his career. This book is very well written and insightful. It gives a lot of behind-the-scenes details of Kirk's life growing up both in front of and behind the camera. He's one of the few celebrities that write in a funny, nonjudgmental and yet introspective/honest way about their lives/faith and that really made this book a pleasure to read. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting! *PS - His mom Barbara Cameron's book "A Full House Of Growing Pains" was a great read too. Both she and Kirk seemed very honest about the ups and downs of their lives.

Great book!

Prior to reading this book, all I really knew about Kirk Cameron was that he starred in Growing Pains and later appeared in the Left Behind movies. Now, I have a newfound respect for Kirk Cameron. The entire book is a testimony of his faith in God. He doesn't need to apologize for having a good moral upbringing. Yet, he realized that he was still missing something--God. I was also surprised at his intelligence and wit and enjoyed the writing style of the book. The book covers everything it needs to without being a lengthy tome.

The Real Deal

I was not a big "Growing Pains" fan when growing up. I did watch the show on occasion and thought it was good, but did not watch frequently. I have seen Kirk Cameron in a few of his other rolls and he is a good actor. I am not the type to give Hollywood actors much thought, but in his case, I will make an exception. Having met him on the set of his latest movie "Fireproof", I can say that he is the Real Deal. He is a very kind person, will take time to talk to kids, and is unashamedly Christian. He shares all these qualities in this book. This book will appeal to both the Kirk Cameron "Hollywood Actor" fan as well as the rest of us who just like the story of a good life lived on moral grounds.

So much more than Mike Seaver

I, like many teenagers in the 80's, was in "love" with Kirk Cameron. I had the posters, and never missed an episode of Growing Pains - The Complete First Season. I read Bop magazine, and soaked up as much information as I could, in hope that one day I would meet Kirk. I was crushed when he married Chelsea! All of this is now slighly embarassing. Oh, the teenage years! I have followed his career in the many years since Growing Pains, and as a fellow Christian, I am proud of the man he has become. If you were a fan in the 80's, I think you will enjoy this book. Kirk seems to have a great since of humor about life, and some of the things that have happened in his past. I most enjoyed reading the chapters with both he and Chelsea telling their story. They are truly an amazing couple. I admire the fact that Kirk has turned down many high profile jobs because they would require him to kiss another woman. That speaks volumes to the love of his wife and 6 kids. I think that Kirk has done a great job in getting the gospel of Jesus Christ more into the mainstream. His book pulls no punches with it. He does not sugar coat it. He tells it like it is. I would also suggest reading his Mom's book, A Full House of Growing Pains, for more insight into the family dynamic. Overall, Kirk has written an informative book, with humor and grace.
