Biographies of historical madams of the American west are rare. This book is well researched and documented, and consequently a fine addition to prostitution literature. She presents a good balance of photographs and text. Madam Stella comes alive in this book and her story is well worth reading. This book is a must read for anyone interested in prostitution at the turn of the nineteenth century.
