I decided at my young and tender age, that I would fabricate a steel mast for my first steel build using the overall section dimension given on the plans, with a twist. The mast would be eight sided. That mast stood on the 'Notion' for the over twenty years that I sailed her. The "Notion' new owner successfully crossed the Atlantic visiting the Islands of the coast of African and Portugal. Talk about the test of time.

This book will cover all aspect for the fabrication of the Mast Column, Mast Head, Spreaders, Boom Gooseneck, Thru-Deck, Mast Step, and Standing Rigging. All will be broken down into there sheet-metal component parts. Full-size flat layouts will be developed for each sheet-metal component. Fabrication of the mast column and welding sequences are also detailed. If you can build the boat, why not the mast and boom.
