After becoming an overnight success on the hit TV show American Idol, Carmen Rasmusen has remained in the public eye, appearing on national programs such as David Letterman, Tyra Banks, MSNBC, Today,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Carmen opens her biography recounting her photo shoot for People Magazine during her run in the finals of American Idol, Season 2. The fashion director came to Carmen with a sexy outfit in one hand and said, "I have a vision of you looking like Britney Spears." This book of stories, rememberances and photos makes one thing perfectly clear. Carmen is no Britney Spears! In fact the's the anti-Britney! Carmen's refusal to wear that revealing outfit is just one of the many, many times Carmen has refused to conpromise her morals or her ideals. What's tragic, in my mind at least, is that America is determined to be obsessed with Britney and her panty-less, drug addicted, child abusing antics, But I digress....... Carmen's book is cleary directed at young Mormon girls and offers frequent advice and guidance on dating, friendship, morality and school, sex (or chastity, as Carmen gently puts it) and marriage. The book is so closely directed at Mormon girls that certain references in the book will be confusing to non-Mormon readers. That's the only reason I've reduced my rating to four stars. This is an easy to read, fast paced and entertaining book. Carmen is tough, smart, honest, religious, moral and most certainly a great role model for young men and women anywhere, of any faith. I strongly recommend this book as a gift to any youngster. At the very least you can illustrate that there are other paths young men and women can follow to fame, fortune and happiness other than the low road taken by Britney and her like.
