"Staunton: Hiding in Plain Sight" is a literary fictional story that takes place one summer in the town of Staunton, Virginia. The story is mostly told through the eyes of Charlie White, a young man who comes to the town seeking summer employment, eventually landing a job in a popular restaurant. While in Staunton, he embraces the charm and idiosyncrasies of the town, befriends some of the unique and at times quirky residents, discovers a gay subculture and attempts to find love. His nearly idyllic summer is set on edge when a visiting Russian dignitary is assassinated while dining at the restaurant. The local police team up with the FBI in an attempt to uncover the assassin. Throughout the story Charlie is constantly reminded that there is more to Staunton than meets the eye.
