The taxonomic status of the Namibian Violet Woodhoopoe Phoeniculus damarensis as determined by mitochondrial DNA, differences between Violet and Green Woodhoopoe mantle feathers, and iridescence of violet woodhoopoe mantle feathers were presented here. These are three works which emanate from publications in the journals Ibis and Biodiversity Observations ex situ. Is the Violet Woodhoopoe a distinct species?
