This book focused on the usefulness of statistics in research. It presented various aspects related to statistical measurement scales, with an emphasis on ordinal scales, as these are the most common in educational research. A procedure for writing theses in academic programs for the training of education professionals was presented. Likewise, essential aspects for understanding the proposed scales were outlined. Criteria were introduced for assessing the level of achievement of the indicators and assigning categories, as well as for measuring each member of the sample and the sample as a whole. Furthermore, examples were provided of how to apply these concepts, depending on the context and purpose of the research. Furthermore, alternatives were presented for the controversial conversion of ordinal scales to interval scales, along with examples of scales that meet the established requirements. The paper also demonstrated how to synthesize data into representative values when conducting empirical research, in order to account for the impact of the results as a whole.
