Day 742.
Elliott Nakamura is twelve years old and hasn't felt rain in over two years.
He lives on the Aether - a space station orbiting Earth with six adults and a keyboard he fought to bring. His mom listens to whales from a boat in the Pacific. His dad listens to space from a lab down the hall. Elliott listens to everything.
The hum of the hull at 3 AM. The click of an airlock. A cosmonaut fighting with the tea machine. He collects sounds the way other kids collect cards - 348 recordings and counting.
Then his dad finds something in the noise. A faint signal. A pattern that shouldn't be there.
And Elliott, the only kid in space, might be the only one listening the right way.
