The first general history of the evolution of European states and nations from medieval times to the present. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Le Goff is well-known as an heir of the Annalist School in France. Keeping the reputation of the discipline, he attempted to trace back the origins of nationalism at the perspective of a great historical trend. His elaboration and collection of historical materials are excellent. And the book undoubtedly provides its readers with a sufficiently broad picture of the medieval sources of nationalism. It stands out of other literatures in this field by its upstreaming to the Middle Age, instead of stressing France and England only and mainly dealing with 18/ 19th century.
