A major contribution to Korean Studies

Although I am not a social scientist, this book offers well-written, insightful articles on contemporary Korea. In particular, Chapter One's "Political Cleavages in South Korea" by Jang Jip Choi is clear, concise and elegant, and a wonderfully accessible introduction to Korean history and politics. The other articles are also well-written. Highly recommended for East Asian scholars who do not specialize in Korea.
