Nosy Nellie says Marvin and Minnie are trouble! She plots to chase those two pesky cats out of the neighborhood--but not before she gets San Franciscos Good Neighbor Award. But then a burglar breaks in through an open bedroom window. A runaway baby stroller races toward a busy street. Lightning starts a fire. Are Marvin and Minnie house cats or heroes? Only Nosy Nellie knows. She sees the whole thing.
I just finished reading this fun story to my kindergartener, and she loved it. We both really enjoyed the suspenseful endings to the chapters... we couldn't stop at just one chapter at bedtime. I could tell, by watching her face, that the words were really painting a picture in her mind. It was fun to watch her expressions change with the adventure. I gave this book as a gift to my cousin's family recently. She has four kids, ages 6-14, and here is what she wrote in her thank you note to me: "My kids were in hysterics as I read them the book you gave us for Christmas! Great Story! I especially loved when Marvin was on the edge of the bubble bath!"
fun and adventure for all ages!

This kids' book will entertain the grown-ups as much as it will the children. The characters, both 2 and 4-legged, are well-developed, credible and likeable -- even when their behavior is morally ambiguous. The somewhat abstract illustrations are intriguing and evocative. It's a page-turner, too. When I came to the end, I was wishing for more! Fortunately, this book is the first of a planned series, so that children (and the rest of us) will have the chance to revisit the characters and follow their adventures. Judging from Ms. Sims' first effort, she has a promising career ahead of her!
