Joyce guides readers to making the most important decision they will ever make. Beginning with the decision to accept Christ, Joyce explains the life-changing impact that comes from knowing God in the most personal way possible. She walks readers through what makes everyone unique creations as a tri-part being--spirit, soul, and body--and how God relates to them in all three areas. Joyce demonstrates the importance of each part aligning to serve God fully and helps readers avoid pitfalls that keep them from being their best. Joyce breaks the book into sections covering each of the parts that make up human beings and explains in great detail the various challenges faced in becoming healthy in those areas and how to anticipate and overcome those obstacles. With brief chapters that each cover a clear and concise thought this book is very reader friendly and accessible. Joyce's unique style shines through and delivers her core message of the importance of an intimate relationship with God and the many-fold ways that will change lives.
When I joined my current church, I was given a list of doctrines and rules. Oh how I wish someone would have given me this book instead! The book begins with a brief explanation of what it means to accept Christ and how to do it. Mrs Meyer then goes on to address issues that most churches don't discuss, things like the importance of a person's thought life, attitude, and words, as well as physical and emotional well-being. While none of the topics are explored in depth, she does give succinct and practical advice. Mrs. Meyers also repeatedly reminds her readers that spiritual growth is a gradual process. This is a very easy read. It's divided up into very short chapters, so readers are never overwhelmed with too much information at once. It makes a good daily devotional. It's marketed as a primer for new converts, but it also makes an excellent "refresher course" for any believer. While it's certainly not the seminal work on the Christian faith, it does provide a solid introduction to the concept that true Christianity is an on-going relationship with God and not just religious dogma.

I am in the quarterlife period of my life, and this book is a good book to guide me, or anyone else through this time. I am trying to figure out where my life is going, but with God's guidance. She breaks down how we should be thinking, our will and God's will for our lives, making decisions, controlling our emotions, exchanging fear for faith, and taking care of our bodies. One important message that Joyce writes about is how to listen for God's guidance, and meditate on His promises. Because I'm praying a lot, I have taken the time to really listen/look for God's guidance and direction in my life. It takes patience! The 12 pt. font makes it an easy-read, and you can start on any chapter that applies to your life right now. Joyce Meyer also has a great bible that includes prayers, and good explanations of how the bible applies to our lives.
