Good Start

This book is a good start for obtaining the knowledge necessary to start a buisness in Florida. After reading it you will have a basic knowledge of the legalities of running a buisness. It is relatively short considering the ammount of material covered. This is accomplished by providing references to additional sources of information rather than discussing specific subjects in great detail. For example, if you're interested in starting a food buisness this book won't give you all the FDA's rules and guidelines, but it will tell you where to go to get them. One thing I feel this book is lacking is a clear step-by-step on how to go through the process of becoming incorporated (or the process for whatever other business type you choose). Sure, it covers all the topics, but I found myself flipping through the last few pages and then wondering what to do next. This book would benefit greatly from a few mini chapters in the end providing a step by step for LLC's, corportations, non-profit, ect. It's frustrating to read through the book and then feel as if you need to go use one of these $300 services to have someone else get you started. The book would also be better if it offered a little more material on corporate by-laws. I realize this is an incredibly complicated subject, but a basic knowledge of what they are and how they effect a buisisness would be nice. Over all I would highly recommend this book. I've complained about it not providing enough start up know-how, but to put it in perspective you're much better off reading this book and understanding the laws needed to keep your business out of trouble than to buy a quick start guide to starting a business without having the legal knowledge to run it.
