Sweet Historical Romance

I have been enjoying reading each of the Brides of the West series and this is no exception. A beautiful story of opposites attract in 1886 Colorado. Pastor Silas is dealing with congregants that want to marry him to their daughter when he meets a beautiful lady when he is out walking by the river. Willow is a traveling actress who has an overbearing sister who controls her life. Can their attraction to each other lead to a lasting connection or heartbreak. A short read that keeps you engaged from the beginning and leaves you wanting it not to end. I loved these characters and their faith as well as their strength to face the challenges that stand in their way. An enjoyable read that has some twists to keep you turning pages. Delightful return to Martin City, CO

I loved my return visit to Martin City, Colorado in 1886. Catching up with the Mackenzies was quite delightful and Silas was a wonderful hero. His dedication to his flock, his unconditional love for the people he pastors, and his desire to do God’s will made him memorable. Willow was charming with her unassuming and humble heart, loving and generous spirit, and desire to see good in everyone. The way misconceptions, assumptions, and gossip tore apart Silas’ congregation struck something deep and I could see even my church behaving this way with certain opinions and issues. Silas working to reconcile and forgive biblically was inspiring. I will have to remember his approach and thought process when I need to resolve a conflict within the church. If you enjoy sweet historical romance, you will love this one. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series where we’ll find Phin Mackenzie all grown up and successful.
