Still has that Gene Roddenberry (August 19, 1921 – October 24, 1991) formula of people interacting with people (and quasi-people) under different circumstances. This poses the question “What would you do?”
The year is 2151. Jonathan Archer’s father designed warp travel for the people of the Earth. They are held back for 88 years because the “Vulcans” do not think that humans are ready to be let loose on the universe.
Finally, a situation comes up for a good excuse to start, and we are off, “where no ‘Man’ has gone before.”
Each episode creates a different situation. The characters must work through their differences and come up with a unique solution in approximately 44 minutes.
It is fun to remember where you have seen the actors before:
Captain Jonathan Archer, played by Scott Bakula, in “Sibling Rivalry” (1990). Dr. Phlox, played by John Billingsley, in “The Man from Earth” (2007).
