A Mother-In Law's Opinion

This book is about so many things I can't begin to cover them all so I will respond to the mother-in-law humor. The relationship between the title character and his mother-in-law is a central theme that runs throughout the story and it keeps the reader in stitches. The two are like oil and water but they obviously love each other. As the main character and his wife traveled the world his aging mother-in-law was there too. The protagonist said, "I had my wife to tell me what to do and her mother to repeat it." She drives him crazy sometimes, but he responds with humor. They pick and peck at each other, but they do it between laughs. He uses humor to get through the tight spots, but he supplies compassion when she needs it. As a mother-in-law myself their relationship is not one I am likely to forget. It's the 'Odd Couple' remade. At my age I am a slow reader so as I read the novel my lunch time doubled as did my breakfast. I drank way too much coffee. Even sometimes when the story is serious the author can make you laugh. It's about getting along with others. It's a self-help book disguised as a hilarious novel about life. Every page is an adventure. Dawn W.

This was absolutely great, absolutely funny, absolutely easy to read and absolutely worth ANY price to buy it. You can easily get lost in the excitement of reading it, wondering what will tickle both your funny bone and mind in the next page. I like Mr. Taylor's writing but I LOVE this story. It is a book about positive thinking but it's not some guru-speak, it's about sharing life with others. Great read.
I Laughed Until I Cried

My husband is the author of this book. He's a reader; I am not. He's philosophical; I'm practical. As a public speaker and spiritual teacher he got the idea three books ago to combine his love of writing fiction with his love of teaching self-help and spirituality. His first two novels Beyond the Shadow of Death: Book One of the Adam Eden Series and its sequel Return to Zero: Book Two of the Adam Eden Series are great suspense stories with one main character being a Native American spirit teacher. His spiritual input is woven into the storyline. My husband calls it the Mary Poppins approach, a spoonful of sugar makes the learning go down. Standup Comedian uses the same method except that the book is a hilarious adventure story. I carried the book around for several weeks planning to read it. Having it with me made me feel less guilty, but like I said, I am not a reader. My husband is a thinker; I get in the dirt and dig. He thinks, I do. I talk about goals and needs; he talks about Inexplicable Will, enlightenment, and egoism. We both talk about brotherhood. I was on my way to Washington D.C. It was a trip I had to make, but I got out of bed to do it. I had injured my back and was in great pain. Bad weather hit Atlanta and I got stranded sitting on the tarmac. I was hurting too badly to digest the material for my meeting the next day but I had Standup Comedian with me. I know how funny my husband is, and I know how often he talks about the healing power of laughter. I started to read and laughed so much that the stranger sitting next to me couldn't resist asking what was so funny. Occasionally, I let her read a few things. If extra copies had been available, I could have sold them all. My husband says that laughter is a form of meditation. He wrote, "Laughter is Exlax to stress," and in Return to Zero: Book Two of the Adam Eden Series he wrote, "Laughter is God's sandpaper to smooth out life's rough spots." I think he is right. It didn't cure my back problem, but it certainly made me forget about it for awhile. Veronica Taylor
