Book Overview

A Worldview of 19th Century Coins Unparalleled in coverage and exhaustive in detail, the Standard Catalog of World Coins, 1901-2000 offers the most complete reference to 20th century coins on the market. Vetted by a team of worldwide experts, the 46th edition of this tradition-rich catalog provides a global view of the most passionately collected and popular area of numismatics. Based on the early work of numismatic giants Chester L. Krause, Clifford Mishler and Colin R. Bruce II, the Standard Catalog is the reference of choice for any serious collector, researcher or coin dealer. With precious metals prices stable, collectible coin values have settled in to reasonable levels, driving seasoned collectors to seek out the highest grade coins available. The continued interest in high-grade, exceptional coins is reflected in the latest edition of the catalog, now offering even more and better-defined values throughout. Extensive yet easily managed, the catalog is organized by country with each listing providing: - Coin types listed by denomination and date - Universally used KM reference numbers - Clear descriptions and invaluable detail - Updated values in up to five grades of preservation - In addition, listings for coins minted in silver, gold, platinum and palladium offer key information, including: - Total coin weight - Fineness - Actual precious metal weight

Indispensible reference for World Coin Collectors

This book is an indispensible reference for World Coin collectors. This book contains tens of thousands of pictures of coins for reference and has information on the size and composition of all the coins referenced. The book is organized by country and then by denomination of the coins with furthur breakdown by periods of rule if necessary. There is a good section in the front dealing with all of the various numeral systems in use throughout the world. You might also want to buy the companion books for the 1800's and 21st century. The catalog of the 19th century also has a great section with pictures of the various coats of arms to help quickly identify which country a coin is from. There is also a CD included with a PDF copy of the book. The digital has hyper-links to aid in searching.

moore than 5 star.

A very useful referance book for every coin collector. Every collector MUST have this catalog Also the CD at the inner page of the back cover was a very nice surprise. Now I will carry a 25 grams of catalog instead of a 2½ kilos during my trips. regards

What a deal - 2 for the price of 1 - worth every penny!

If you collect world coins, you need to purchase the Standard Catalog series from Krause Publications. The 20th Century book that I purchased came with a DVD. I kinda look at this as a "2 for 1" deal as the DVD has the same contents as the book. I noticed that the prices on some coins went up while others went down. With the DVD, I can look up countries almost as fast as the book (there will be some of you who will experience either fast finds or slow ones depending on your computer processing speed). Overall, I only hope that Krause will include DVD's in future editions.

Excellent Resource

Those who collect world coins from the twentieth century will find this catalog an invaluable resource. Whether it is coins that an ancestor brought home from a war or the left over money from a trip overseas, this catalog will help you quickly identify where it is from, the metal composition of the coin and a general price guide to its current value as a collectible item. There are helpful pictures that show the actual coin you are researching. If you collect 20th century world coins this book is for you. If you have only a few coins to identify you might be better off consulting a friend or a coin dealer who may loan you a copy or let you look through theirs.

It is an excellent collections of coins issued by different countries -- all in one place--it is an historical document compiled very carefully. I just love it
