Every child is unique and deserves acceptance not just from others, but also from within. As a teacher, I need to accept the uniqueness rather than box them into categories. As a role model for children, honouring uniqueness fosters respect and kindness. 'Stand up for yourself, ' Brando Tells Dory is to teach the children something deeper: self-respect. A child with healthy self-worth can fight against many odds and grow into a responsible human being. That's what Dory did in this story. She stood against a group of girls by respectfully telling them that she was blamed for something she never did. It took courage and support for her to speak up. And here is another lesson of self-respect: ask for help. Brando, her classmate, narrated an incident between him and his sister when she screamed at him for not making her favourite toast. Brando loves to share his warmth and kindness through cooking. But that day he did something different. He stood for himself. Brando's story helped Dory to reflect and take some action. She learned that standing up for yourself and asking for help are both acts of self-respect.
