WONDERFUL--the true story of the saint who flew

Think you've read about miracles before? Even among saints, St Joseph of Copertino was a marvel. He was born in 1603 in a stable, a place his mother found refuge in while she was fleeing debtors. Joseph hardly seemed fitted for greatness. He failed at his apprenticeship as a cobbler. He entered the order of Conventuals but, even given the simplest of jobs, seemed unable to cope. "He could not distinguish wheat bread from rye bread, often he broke dishes...upset pots" (p 5). At last they told him to leave. Yet this was the man destined to become a true mystic. The number of miracles associated with St Joseph is stunning. But most astonishing was the number of times he flew in the air. Sometimes he flew only 4 feet. Sometimes he flew 40 feet or more. And there he would stay, perhaps for hours. These miracles were attested to by thousands and thousands of people, including many of the most famous people of his time, many of them quite skeptical before they met him. Almost every time he said Mass he would fall into an ecstasy and fly into the air. Once, while meeting Pope Urban, he flew off until the Pope's command (St Joseph was always strictly obedient to anyone in authority over him) brought him back to the ground. He predicted the future correctly, bilocated, cured the sick, and many other things. His life story is amazing.

Great book about a Great Saint

I have had a devotion to Saint Joseph for many years, and i found this book to be a good sorce for both gaining knowledge about this saint whose life was filled with trials and tribulations, and also to spread the devotion to this patron saint of aviators, and of Students. This book is well writen and layed out in an easy to understand way. I would recommend this book to any wanting to learn about this Holy Man. St. Joseph Of Copertino... Pray for us!!

Review from the Publisher

An incredible Franciscan Saint (1603-1663), most famous for his miracles, levitations, and severe penances. The devil said of him, "Friar Joseph is the worst foe we have." 135pp. PB. Imprimatur.
