On December 5, 2004, a young man was medevacked to Shands Jacksonville Hospital with critical injuries. That young black teen and his twin brothers were deliberately run down by a woman in her SUV and the injuries to young Isiah Grayer Jr. are life-threatening. One of his twin brothers was hospitalized with a serious concussion. In this first-person account of his journey to learn how to walk, talk, and learn again through the faith and love of his family and friends, Isiah recounts what he has remembered of that day and his recovery as his brain has healed. Now a father to two sons, he's re-written this memoir to include those memories and the insights he's gathered along the way. It was always Isiah's desire to encourage his family, friends, and everyone else, to learn to forgive others especially when they've hurt you badly. The driver was a woman with a history of mental health issues who was driving against the advice of her doctors. She would never drive again. As Isiah struggled to get well and resume school and sports with his school friends, his family struggled with the anger and injustice they felt on his behalf. He only wanted them to have peace and be a happy family again. And so, with the blessings of his mother, Arribella, who has since died of cancer, Isiah wrote his story. He hopes it will help someone else who is tested in life.
