Our 5th-grade class marveled at SRA in 1963! Our "first-year" teacher (Miss Zeller) would direct us to the SRA box displays, where we could choose any story/genre we wanted to read, and, for a set time, we read as many selections as possible. As I recall, I usually chose biographical sketches about baseball players. Later, as a high school English teacher, I recommended parents of reluctant readers subscribe to high interest magazines for their children. Proud to finally be "one in a million" through SRA!
