Squirrel Makes Breakfast

Eggs? Check . Orange juice? Yep . Fire extinguisher? Wise choice . It's squirrel's turn to make breakfast. My kids routinely ask for stories at bedtime. I started by paraphrasing the plots of movies I'd seen, but once that well ran dry I started making up stories on the fly. One character they latched onto is a talking, mischievous squirrel. He's gotten into all sorts of trouble - burying a car, riding a motorcycle, skydiving... really whatever I think will earn some cheap laughs. As they got older, we talked about how every movie, book, or play they've seen started as a story in someone's imagination. I told them they could be authors, so they asked why I didn't write any books if I was always coming up with stories. Fair point. Squirrel Makes Breakfast is a humorous picture book for young readers and is my first effort to commit the squirrel stories to paper.
