It started with one cartoon.

Unfortunately, nobody stopped him.

Squared Away - Volume 1 is the first collection of single-panel cartoons by Norwegian cartoonist Nils Ofstad, featuring absurd situations, questionable decisions, everyday disasters and the occasional moment when things get considerably darker than expected.

The humor moves freely between silly, dry, surreal and dark - usually without asking permission first. People get themselves into trouble. Animals behave suspiciously. Common sense makes occasional appearances, but rarely in time to be useful.

There are no recurring characters, no storylines and absolutely no need to read the book in the correct order. Open it anywhere, look at a cartoon, and move on with your life.

Some cartoons may make you laugh immediately. Some may take a moment. And there will probably be one or two where you simply stare at the page and question the judgment of the person responsible.

That person has since produced several more books.

So apparently no lessons were learned.
